Kate Retief 

Kate has been a ballet dancer with the Royal Academy of dance since the age of seven and passed all her exams with merit and distinction, including Grade 8  - 96 % - at 37 years of age! She matriculated from the National School of the Arts in 1997, majoring in ballet and receiving a distinction for Contemporary Dance and Anatomy. 

She received her National Dance Diploma from Pretoria Technikon in 2001, specialising in Ballet teaching, as well as having received her Pilates Training certificate in the same year. 
After completing her Ndip Diploma, Kate has taught the Royal Academy of Dance method for the last 19 years, from nursery school level to Advanced 2.

Kate was a member of the Johannesburg Youth Ballet from 1995 - 2003 and was the Artistic Director of the same company for almost a decade. She was involved in staging, coaching and choreographing yearly, critically acclaimed productions. She received her Certificate in Ballet Teaching Studies from the Royal Academy of Dance in 2013 and participates in continuing professional development yearly.

Kate adopts her motto in her teachings "I can, I will, I must ! "


Franco Wagener
Modern, Tap & Musical Theatre

Franco Wagener hails from the prestigious Waterfront Theatre in Capetown, having trained in the ISTD Ballet, Modern & Tap genres, achieving the highest level in the ISTD Tap syllabus and obtaining his Teachers Licentiate.


Franco has many accolades under his belt including being featured in the Waterfront Theatre showcase events and has won numerous awards at their annual Choreographic Competition.

Franco has also appeared in numerous WTS shows, TV adverts and corporate events to name a few.

Tamzin Stone 
Acrobatics, Contemporary & Tumbling

Tamzin fondly known as Tami has been dancing since the age of 4 and has trained in Acrobatics, African, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Modern, Spanish & Tap. After attending the National School Of The Arts (NSA) she went on to study Dance and Musical Theatre at the Tshwane University Of Technology (TUT) where she obtained her degree in Teaching, Choreography & Performance and was named Best Jazz Dancer in her 3rd & 4th year. Through her years of dance training she has attained her Associate 3 in Acrobatics (Acrobatic Federation Of South Africa - AFSA) and her Advanced 3 in Modern Dance (DanceCor)

Tami has a wealth of experience in teaching and choreographing, winning numerous choreography awards both locally and Internationally. She has performed on numerous occasions at the acclaimed Grahamstown Arts Festival as well as at Dance Umbrella for KMAD Dance Company to name a few


She is currently completing her Masters in Dance and will be completing her Module 1

in Acrobatic Arts.

She is passionate about teaching children and growing this artform in SA

Natalie Temple
Acrobatics & Tumbling

Natalie has been an acrobatic dancer since the age of 11 years old and was trained under the Acrobatic Federation Of South Africa (AFSA) syllabus. She has been a competitive dancer across many genres and has competed at the American Dance Awards in the USA as well as at the Dance World Cup in Jersey, Channel Islands where she placed 3rd in the world with an Acrobatic solo routine.

Natalie obtained her Acrobatic Arts Teachers Module 1 Qualification including the Aerial & Back Handspring Certification in 2019 and she had previously completed her Associate 1 Teachers Exam through the Acrobatic Federation of South Africa (AFSA)

Over and above having trained and competed in Acrobatic, Ballet, Contemporary and Modern dance, Natalie has also been a competitive Artistic Gymnast (multiple full colour awards), competitive tumbler and South African International Competitive Trampoline Champion.

Natalie is passionate about upskilling her students in Acrobatics and Tumbling by encouraging them to face their fears when attempting new flips and tricks !

Shaun Zitha
Hip Hop

Shaun Zitha is a professional dancer, dance teacher and facilitator as well as a choreographer from Durban.

He is trained in Contemporary dance and Afro-Fusion at Siwela Sonke Dance Theatre and Moving Into Dance, he has more than 12 years experience in the Hip Hop genre.
He has competed in TV dance competitions such as “Step Up Or Step Out” Season 3 and “Break Da Beat” Season 1 & 2, he received 1st place in a prominent KwaZulu-Natal Regional Hip Hop dance competition.

Shaun is passionate about teaching and has worked together with institutions such UJ Arts & Culture Dance Academy and Dance@Wits to name a few.

Shaun is fiercely invested in teaching dance because he believes that it is this generation’s responsibility to guide the next generation to keep the arts alive !
